I bought an old stop Cadillac hubcap from a junkyard; making it into a shield was easy. Simple to do; just buy an industrial door handle, bolt it in place, and do the same with a belt. As far as hubcaps go, Cadillac's seem to be the most sturdy, but I'm not sure how well it would stand up to damage.
